Luke 10:38-42 (NIV) "38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, 'Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!'41"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
The reading today takes a different look at "sitting at His feet." Often we focus on Mary as she literally sat at Jesus' feet and listened. However, the study points out that another way of "sitting at the feet of Jesus" is to think about God as you go throughout your day. I think this is a great way to live your life, but I wonder if you are able to develop the same relationship with the Father as you would when you daily find a quiet time to be with Him. Thoughts?
TFF Prayer for today: "Dear Father, I yearn for the intimacy You have for me. I realize many of the things that take up my day are good things. I also realize I will never be fulfilled in any of them if I don't choose what's to my advantage, and that's sitting at Your feet! Help me get excited about being in Your presence. Help me long to listen to Your sweet whisperings that can only be heard with I spend time with You. I love You."
